LinkedIn’s Follow Company Feature – Easily track Investment Managers

LinkedIn’s “Follow Company” feature launched in May 2010 and it is something that will come in quite handy. The “Follow Company” feature will be a great way to track developments at Investment Managers. Most importantly, it will help you to be among the first to learn about staff movements and career opportunities.

At the time of this article, 5,792 companies are listed in the Investment Management directory at LinkedIn and over 10,000 company results returned from an “investment management” company name or keyword search.

You can find companies that are part of the Investment Management industry in a couple of ways:

  1. From a member’s LinkedIn profile: If a member is / was affiliated with a company, you can click through any of the companies listed on their profile. Once on the company profile page, you can click the “Follow Company” button.

  2. By performing a company search: If you have performed a company search, on the resulting page, you will be provided with a list of every company matching your keyword string. Find the company name of interest, mouse-over that company name and click the “Follow Company” text from the hover box that pops up.
  3. LinkedIn Follow Company

  4. From the More menu on the LinkedIn homepage header: The easiest way to find the Company Profiles homepage is from the “More” drop down list on the LinkedIn header.

Adam we have found this to be valuable both for our own firm (and have the LinkedIn company badge on our web site) as well as for the research benefit.

It is very functional data and more focused on business operations and news than following a Facebook Fan page.
